Baptisms
Government guidelines still permits us to conduct baptism and thanksgiving services here at St Giles. However, numbers are restricted in order to reduce the spread of covid-19. As the foundation of Christian life, this is a time of joy and celebration for candidates, parents, godparents and the whole church family. While it may be some time before this celebration can be enjoyed as before, there are steps which can be taken to make it as memorable as possible while still adhering to government guidance on physical distancing, public health hygiene and protection of those particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. If you wish to discuss a baptismal or thanksgiving service with a member of the clergy, please contact the Church Office on 01604 628623 or email office@stgilesnorthampton.org.uk Further information can be found on the Church of England’s website. See link below: As a church, we are committed to living out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. The baptism of those who have put their faith and trust in Christ is a joyful and wonderful occasion in the life of the church and in the life of the Christian believer.
Baptism marks a significant public occasion for those who have committed their lives to Christ and seek to be one of his disciples and faithful followers. In baptism, Christians make firm promises and commitments including the following:- Do you turn to Christ as Saviour? Do you submit to Christ as Lord? Do you come to Christ, the way, the truth and the life?
Will you pray for him, draw him/her by your example into the community of faith and walk with him/her in the way of Christ? Will you care for him/her and help him/her to take his place within the life and worship of Christ’s Church? For those who are not presently committed followers of Jesus, we’d love to get to know you and you’d be most welcome to come along and meet us at one of our worship services. We also run the Alpha Course to help people to explore the Christian faith and we’d love to welcome you to the course.
