18-30s Weekend Away

Young Adults

There are a growing number of young adults (18-30ish) who are part of St Giles, who frequently come to our informal evening service (where there is a café selling cappuccinos, smoothies and cake twice a month).

There are two cell groups for this age group that meet on Tuesday and Thursday nights! Young adults are also involved in ‘Church on Thursday?’, homegroups, music group and work with younger people.

We are hoping to have an annual weekend away together, since the success of our first one we are planning some mens, womens and joint social events.

All these things are part of our vision for young adults at St Giles which says that:

As part of the vision of St Giles overall to ‘Love God and show God’s love to others’ our vision is to see young adults within St Giles know their personal significance, and that they are part of something bigger, which is of real consequence.

We aspire to see young adults within St Giles grow in their:
 Capacity to engage passionately with the God who loves them
 Commitment to share God’s love within the whole fellowship of St Giles
 Confidence to share that love with His world in word and deed.
So we want to challenge young adults who regularly attend St Giles to be:

Living the Christian life in all its fullness – not hindered by either fear or complacency. So rather than being spectators or ‘surviving’ as Christians to be:

Disciples: Intentionally following Jesus – committed to, even hungering after personal and communal growth of their relationship with God.
Involved: Being an active part of St Giles and giving in terms of time, talents and money
Community: Caring for another – growing in hospitality, accountability, prayer and listening and to promote supportive and sociable intergenerational community
Missional: Encouraging each other to take the initiative to share our faith in word and deed.
